AA RANO prepares Nigeria’s first unmanned fuel stations
The retailer plans a January 2026 launch of automated sites aimed at round-the-clock fueling and greater operational efficiency.
AA RANO is set to introduce Nigeria’s first unmanned fuel stations, marking a significant step in the evolution of the country’s fuel retail landscape. The initiative positions the downstream marketer at the forefront of automation as it reshapes how customers access fuel nationwide.
The new format will allow customers to refuel on a 24/7 self-service basis across AA RANO locations. These stations remove the need for on-site attendants, with operations designed to ensure accurate dispensing, transparent pricing and faster throughput, particularly during peak periods.
“By introducing unmanned, automated stations, we are not just adopting technology; we are setting a new standard for reliability and speed in the Nigerian downstream sector,” said Mohammed Sule, General Manager, Retail at AA RANO, as reported by Vanguard News.
The retailer expects the automated stations to strengthen customer confidence and support higher volumes, especially in urban and high-traffic areas where demand for convenience continues to grow.
As automation gains traction in global fuel retailing, AA RANO’s rollout signals a shift toward more flexible and scalable station models in Nigeria, with potential implications for operating costs, service availability and the overall customer experience.
