Allego to launch MSP platform in partnership with Deftpower
The move marks a step beyond its traditional role as a charge point operator and into digital services.
European operators of EV charging infrastructure Allego has announced plans to launch its own Mobility Service Provider (MSP) platform in partnership with Dutch technology firm Deftpower. The move marks a step beyond its traditional role as a charge point operator and into digital services that connect drivers with networks, pricing and payment options.
The platform aims to make EV charging more convenient and transparent, building on Allego’s recent innovations such as Plug & Charge, which allows automatic authentication and payment, and its Summer Pass discount scheme. Jean Gadrat, Allego’s chief marketing officer, said the strategy was designed to give drivers “more choice, price transparency and convenience,” whether individuals, SMEs or large fleets.
Deftpower, which provides white-label mobility services for energy companies and fleet operators, will supply the underlying platform. Its chief executive, Jacob van Zonneveld, described Allego as a natural partner, citing its scale and ambition in Europe’s rapidly expanding charging market.
The launch comes as competition in Europe’s EV sector intensifies, with energy groups, automakers and tech firms all vying for market share. Established providers such as Shell Recharge, Plugsurfing and Octopus Electroverse are already active in MSP services. Analysts suggest that combining control over infrastructure with direct customer interfaces could be decisive as EV adoption accelerates and drivers look for simpler ways to find, use and pay for charging.
