Asda accelerates Express store expansion with nine openings in one week
The new sites, including seven in London, support Asda’s strategy to grow its urban and transport hub presence and bring everyday value to more communities.
Asda has announced the opening of nine new Asda Express convenience stores in a single week, significantly accelerating its rollout programme. The move is part of the retailer’s strategy to bring its low prices and broad product range to more urban neighbourhoods and transport hubs across the UK.
Seven of the new stores are located in London: at Tower Bridge, Greenwich, Limehouse Station, Harringay, Deptford, Whetstone, and in the former Arsenal FC club shop at Finsbury Park station. Two additional stores will open in Botley and Stoke, reinforcing Asda’s presence in southern and central England.
Each Express store carries over 3,000 branded and own-label products, covering daily essentials, fresh groceries, and lunch-on-the-go options. They also offer extra services including Costa Coffee machines, ATMs, Amazon collection and return points, and on-demand delivery through Uber Eats, Just Eat, and Deliveroo.

Asda entered the convenience market in 2022 and is on track to operate around 500 Express stores by the end of 2025. Earlier this month, the retailer opened a new store in Castleford and plans to launch 10 more before the end of the year, with a strong pipeline already in place for 2026.
