Asda continues roll out of Express stores throughout the UK
A new outlet is set to open on May 23rd in England as part of the retailer’s strategy to launch a further 300 concept stores by the end of 2026.
Asda plans to open a convenience store in Wiltshire county, England, set to open its doors on May 23. The new outlet will be the retailer’s third ‘Express’ format and has created 15 new jobs in the community.
The site will be located just outside of Calne’s town center and offer customers over 3,000 products. In addition, it will offer a variety of services to customers including parcel collection and returns, lottery and parking.
The roll out of the Express concept is part of the brand’s long-term strategy to become the UK’s second largest supermarket by establishing a presence in the fast-growing convenience sector. The company plans to launch a further 300 stores of the same format by the end of 2026.
“We’re excited to be bringing our new convenience offering to Calne and we’re confident the store will offer customers everything they need - whether that’s popping in for a pint of milk, grabbing a spot of lunch on the go, or buying the fresh ingredients to cook dinner from scratch,” said James Laws, Senior Director of Wholesale and Convenience at Asda.
The new Express stores are wholly owned and operated by Asda. They are separate from the “On the Move” convenience sites, which are located on garage forecourts owned and operated by EG Group.
