Asda to install self‑service laundry machines at 700 stores
Wash.ME partnership lets shoppers wash and dry clothes while grocery shopping.
Asda plans to introduce self‑service laundry machines at up to 700 locations across the United Kingdom under a nationwide partnership with ME Group International. The rollout will allow customers to wash and dry clothes while shopping at the store.
The Wash.ME machines will begin appearing in May at Asda Supercentres, Superstores, supermarkets, and Express locations. Many units will be available 24/7, targeting shoppers looking for flexible and time‑saving laundry options integrated into everyday errands.
Each installation includes large‑capacity machines with 9 kg and 20 kg drums, designed to handle both routine laundry loads and bulk household items. The equipment features energy‑efficient wash cycles and high‑speed drying, aligning with rising demand for unattended, self‑service laundry in retail environments.
Joseph Sutton, Vice President of Asda Express, foodservice and fuel, said: “We’re always looking for new ways to make life easier for the customers who shop with us, particularly by strengthening the breadth of services that meet their needs under one roof.”
For ME Group, the agreement represents its largest single‑client deal within its laundry division. Deputy Chief Executive Officer Vladimir Crasneanscki described Asda’s retail and fuel locations as well‑suited for unattended laundry services, adding that strong consumer demand continues to drive expansion and reinforce the company’s market position in the UK.
