Azerbaijan: SOCAR to increase number of filling stations
The company has commissioned four more CNG filling stations in Azerbaijan.
Azerbaijan’s SOCAR Petroleum CJSC has commissioned four more filling stations of CNG in the country, following its plans for the development of a network of filling stations.
The new sites are located in the Khazar district on the 70th kilometer of the Baku-Salyan highway, as well as on the 28th kilometer of the Baku-Guba highway and in the Khatai district.
After the last opening, the number of SOCAR’s CNG filling stations has reached 9 sites. 12 more CNG stations are planned to be commissioned in the near future, increasing the number of SOCAR’s stations to 21.
CNG was introduced in Azerbaijan in 2015 for the use in public transport, and it has been sold at filling stations since 2018. One of the main users is BakuBus LLC.
SOCAR Petroleum was established in January 2008, opened its first filling station in Azerbaijan back in May 2010 and started retailing CNG in July 2018. The company is engaged in the retail trade of petroleum products, and it operates a network of filling stations under the SOCAR brand.
