Ballenoil expands self-service network beyond 350 stations in Spain
The company’s strategy reflects a growing shift in Spain’s fuel retail market towards self-service.
Ballenoil has surpassed 350 service stations across Spain, reinforcing its position as one of the country’s leading operators of automated fuel sites. The company aims to reach 500 locations by 2027, extending its low-cost model designed to provide efficient service and competitive pricing.
Since joining energy group Moeve just over a year ago, Ballenoil has opened more than 65 new stations and expects to operate 380 by the end of 2025. Its network now spans 13 autonomous communities, with recent expansions in Tarragona, Almería, Huesca, Lleida, and Girona.
Pierre-Yves Sachet, CEO of Moeve, said the partnership enables the group to offer “a solid proposition for all customers,” combining Moeve’s premium stations with Ballenoil’s low-cost sites. The company’s strategy reflects a growing shift in Spain’s fuel retail market, where automation and reduced overheads are seen as key to maintaining competitiveness amid changing mobility trends.
In addition to its fuel expansion, Ballenoil is rolling out its own electric vehicle charging network. The company has installed 42 new branded charging bays and expects to operate nearly 100 points soon, marking its first major step toward integrating e-mobility solutions within its service network.
