BayWa has partnered with GLS Germany and DPD Germany to introduce parcel locker services at its fuel stations, integrating inboxx units at selected locations across southern Germany. The rollout will begin with installations at 30 sites in Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg, with plans to expand across more than 80 locations.

The initiative adds parcel collection and return services to BayWa’s forecourt network, aiming to enhance everyday convenience for customers. The lockers are part of the inboxx network, an open-access system jointly developed by GLS and DPD to provide flexible out-of-home (OOH) delivery options independent of traditional delivery schedules.

Fuel stations have been identified as strategic locations due to their accessibility, high footfall and extended opening hours, allowing customers to combine parcel services with routine stops. The integration aligns with broader industry trends toward expanding non-fuel services at forecourts.

The partnership also supports GLS and DPD’s plans to expand their shared OOH infrastructure, which currently includes more than 10,000 points each. The companies aim to grow the combined network to 20,000 parcel shops and lockers across Germany by 2027.

For BayWa, the collaboration reflects a strategy to position its sites as multi-service infrastructure hubs, with potential to extend the model beyond fuel retail into other business areas.
