G&V Energy Group and Allego have opened their first mobility hub as part of their recent partnership to evolve the former’s network of service stations. The new site is located in the city of Antwerp, the very first fast charging location in Belgium where existing petrol and diesel pumps under the canopy have been replaced by High Power Chargers where EV drivers can charge their electric car sufficiently within 10 to 15 minutes.

Allego has installed two fast chargers with a capacity of 300kW with 4 charging spots, all equipped with payment terminals that support mobile and credit card payments. The charging stations themselves will only distribute green electricity and a capacity of approximately 43MWh/year is planned for this location.

"By providing sufficient charging infrastructure, we want to increase driver comfort. The ambition is to ensure the accelerated development of public, semi-public and private charging points in Flanders. By 2025, Flanders should have 35,000 charge equivalents and (ultra)fast charging infrastructure every 25 km along the motorways and major traffic axes," said Lydia Peeters, Flemish Minister of Mobility and Public Works.

The newly inaugurated forecourt is the first of 12 locations that will be converted from a traditional petrol station to an energy hub by the end of this year. All 12 locations are co-financed by the European Union. In total, 20 HPC 300 kW chargers and 19 150 kW fast chargers will be installed in 6 provinces across Belgium.

"Together with Allego, we are proud to announce this strategic and long-term cooperation. Both companies share a similar dynamic and progressive DNA and strive to pioneer the Belgian market for HPC charging. We commit to transforming 100 of our most important petrol stations into modern 'energy hubs' equipped with the right facilities and Breakpoint shops for a quick lunch or delicious coffee while charging," added Xavier Dewulf, CEO of G&V Energy Group.
