BP pilots digital in-truck payments service
MAN SimplePay will let drivers automate transaction processes at the company’s service stations.
MAN Truck & Bus has developed a digital platform for all payment processes relating to commercial vehicles: MAN SimplePay. The company has partnered with bp to launch a pilot phase for the solution, allowing for automated, contactless and secure payment when refueling - without cash or cards.
The driver remains at the truck, saving time by avoiding the trip to the station’s store, also reducing potential contacts in corona times. It also allows for complete transparency and simplification in all payment processes and involves the truck becoming a digital wallet for all transactions that occur in the trucker's daily routine.
Fleet managers can also benefit with this solution thanks to having a real-time overview on a dashboard and can control all costs and processes for each individual vehicle in one system. Administrative workload is reduced and managers can focus on the effective deployment of trucks.
Payment processes run directly through the truck via a RIO Box installed in the vehicle, handled digitally by the payment processor Stripe. The cloud infrastructure is provided by Amazon Web Services.
MAN SimplePay will be available to pilot customers in the UK market, followed by the launch on the German market.
