BP to enter Mexican filling station market
BP is the latest major oil company to enter the Mexican gas station market after last year's liberalization.
BP has informed that it will open its first gas station on Mexican soil on March 9 with the celebration of an official event attended by senior members.
The global fuel marketer is the last foreign company to announce its entry in the Mexican fuelling market, joining other retailers such as OxxoGas, Gulf, Petro Seven, Hidrosima and Pemex. Texaco, Costco and Walmart will also join the market soon.
BP has seen an opportunity to develop in a market that generated 377,087 million pesos ($19 billion) between 2011 and 2015, according to Forbes.
The company is expected to take advantage of its high levels of fuel production in the United States to feed its Mexican network of gas stations.
