BYD reaches halfway mark in 20,000 flash chargers rollout

The automaker has installed 10,000 ultra-fast charging stations in China, reaching half of its 2026 target as it accelerates deployment with support from major partners.

BYD has announced that it has installed 10,000 second-generation Flash Chargers in China, achieving half of its goal to deploy 20,000 units by the end of 2026.

The milestone follows the launch of the company's latest charging technology in March, when BYD introduced its second-generation Flash Charger alongside an updated Blade Battery designed to reduce charging times for electric vehicles (EV).

The T-shaped charging stations deliver up to 1,500 kW of power and feature two charging cables that can be connected simultaneously to a compatible vehicle. According to BYD, vehicles equipped with the latest Blade Battery technology can charge from 10% to 97% in as little as nine minutes when paired with a dual-gun charger.

The company recently inaugurated its 10,000th Flash Charger in Shenzhen. BYD noted that deployment began before the official launch of the technology, with early installations already operating in several locations across China. The automaker reported having completed 4,239 stations during the first two months of 2026 alone.

BYD plans to install another 10,000 Flash Chargers over the remaining months of the year in partnership with companies including Sinopec, PetroChina, CNOOC, Teld and JD.com.
