ChargePoint and GM collaborate to expand EV charging network

The collaboration aims to install hundreds of ultra-fast charging ports at strategic locations nationwide.

ChargePoint and General Motors have announced a partnership to accelerate the expansion of EV charging infrastructure in the United States. The collaboration aims to install hundreds of ultra-fast charging ports at strategic locations nationwide.

The initiative will include ChargePoint’s Omni Port system, which supports vehicles with CCS and NACS charging ports without the need for adapters or dedicated parking spaces. Many of the planned stations will utilize ChargePoint's Express Plus platform, capable of delivering charging speeds of up to 500kW.

“Together, ChargePoint and GM will deliver a seamless fast charging experience via reliable charging hardware managed by our industry-leading software platform,” said Rick Wilmer, CEO of ChargePoint.

GM Energy Vice President Wade Sheffer emphasized the importance of improving the EV ownership experience through expanded charging options. “This collaboration adds more reliable, accessible, and convenient charging experiences,” Sheffer said.

The collaboration also includes an incentive program aimed at encouraging third-party CPOs to invest in EV charging infrastructure.
