Circle K, Food Rocket Delivery partner for last-mile delivery
The partnership involves the launch of the service at two of the chain’s convenience stores in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Circle K has partnered with Food Rocket to add its last-mile delivery model to two of its branded stores located in Charlotte, North Carolina. Through its app, Food Rocket will offer up to 7,000 Stock Keeping Units (SKUs) focused on grocery and convenience products, such as the retailer’s breakfast sandwiches, tacos, burgers, pizza, coffee, snacks and bakery products, as well as hundreds of cold beverages, beer and nicotine products.
Orders are set to be delivered from two microfulfillment centres that occupy between 170 and 500 square feet at each location. Earlier this year, Circle K’s parent company Alimentation Couche-Tard announced an investment of more than half of its initial Circle K Venture Fund’s $100 million for startup companies to explore the “future of convenience,” a strategy that included Food Rocket.
“As consumer needs and expectations continue to evolve, we’re exploring ways to bring the Circle K brand experience to them where they are and make their lives easier. Food Rocket has an amazing team, a unique approach to quick delivery and a differentiated platform that has the potential to be a powerful engine for convenience, and we’re looking forward to seeing how this pilot in Charlotte resonates with our customers,” said Kevin Lewis, Chief Marketing Officer at Couche-Tard, according to a press release published by NACS.
Food Rocket launched in San Francisco in April 2021 by Vitaly Alexandrov and became the first on-demand grocery delivery service in California. The service placed its bets on the fresh grocery category, which makes up 60% of all orders, as well as on ready-to-eat meals. Order processing takes 2-3 minutes and the delivery window is typically within 15 minutes.
