Circle K responds to Will Ferrell: “We’re coming to the U.S.”

In an advert of their own, Circle K’s Norwegian team responds to General Motors’ Super Bowl campaign by stating they are ready for America.

After General Motors launched its electric vehicle campaign with Will Ferrell appearing at the Super Bowl, Circle K have come to say: “Yes, Will Ferrell -  Circle K loves Norway and we’re ready!”

Alimentation Couche-Tard’s global service station brand has come back with its own advert, welcoming General Motors’ intention of bringing mass electrification to the United States.

Leading up to Superbowl Sunday in the United States, General Motors launched an EV campaign where comedian Will Ferrell attacks Norway for being ahead on EVs.

For the last three years, Norway has been home to the company's global EV lab, where a dedicated team is learning all it can about electric vehicle charging and building a more sustainable future. In 2021 it will begin to expand its EV charging business into the U.S.

“Circle K leads the way in Norway for EV charging and has more charging stations and home and office charging solutions than any other fuel retailer in Norway. For the last three years, Norway has been home to the company's global EV lab, where a dedicated team is learning all it can about electric vehicle charging and building a more sustainable future,” said Brian Hannasch, President and CEO of Circle K.

Will Ferrell’s attack on Norway comes a week after GM had announced plans to be carbon neutral by 2040. To reach that the company will offer 30 all-electric models globally by mid-decade, and 40% of the company’s U.S. models offered will be battery electric vehicles by the end of 2025.

With North America’s biggest car manufacturer committing to EVs, and now Circle K, with 9,260 convenience stores and 8,000 gas stations, following suit, the U.S. could see a rapid increase in electric vehicles and stations.
