Co-op Live has unveiled a fully autonomous food and beverage market designed to speed up service at the UK’s largest arena. The new Tap, Grab, Go outlet, developed with Oak View Group (OVG), integrates AiFi’s camera‑based spatial‑intelligence system with Boxbar Tech’s automated self‑serve beverage technology.

Located in Vertu Place in Manchester, the redesigned market uses four entry gates and a frictionless checkout process to handle heavy footfall during peak event times. Customers can enter, pick up items, pour their own drinks and leave without stopping at a traditional till.

The system combines AiFi’s AI‑driven product recognition with Boxbar Tech’s automated draught setup, allowing visitors to pour lager, IPA, cider and Guinness at speed. Technology built into the system identifies each pour, aiming to reduce queues while maintaining beverage quality.

OVG’s SVP of Hospitality Strategy, Michalis Fragkiadakis, said the launch demonstrated Co-op Live’s intention to “lead the way” in modern venue operations, describing the installation as a benchmark for the sector. AiFi CEO João Diogo Falcão called the project a step toward “fully digitised” large‑scale environments, while Boxbar Tech’s co-founder Reshad Hossenally highlighted the importance of delivering speed “without compromising on quality”.

Positioned in one of the arena’s busiest areas, the autonomous market is intended to improve guest flow and help fans return to their seats more quickly.
