Electrify America establishes large EV charging hub in Santa Barbara
The new site offers 20 ultra-fast chargers and integrated battery storage system.
Electrify America has opened a new large-format electric vehicle (EV) charging station in downtown Santa Barbara, California, expanding high-power charging access in the region. The facility is located at the former Greyhound Bus depot site, and is designed to support growing EV adoption in urban areas.
The station features 20 chargers capable of delivering up to 350 kW each, enabling compatible vehicles to gain up to 20 miles of range per minute. The site is part of the company’s strategy to deploy high-capacity charging hubs that reduce wait times and accommodate increased demand.
A key element of the installation is a 1.9 MW battery energy storage system (BESS), the largest public deployment of its kind by Electrify America to date. The system stores energy during periods of low demand or high renewable generation and releases it during peak usage, helping stabilize grid demand and support consistent charging capacity.
The new facility is Electrify America’s second location in Santa Barbara and joins similar large-format stations in cities including Santa Monica, San Diego and San Francisco. These sites form part of a broader network spanning 47 U.S. states and Washington, D.C.
