ČEZ opens one of Czech Republic’s fastest EV charging stations

The new charging hub has been integrated into a service station on the main road from Moravia to Vienna and is equipped with 5 chargers that can power 10 vehicles at the same time.

ČEZ has opened the fastest electric vehicle (EV) charging station in the Czech Republic. Integrated into a service station located on the main road from Moravia to Vienna, the new charging hub offers drivers a total of five charging stands.

While ten vehicles can charge simultaneously, two of them will be able to complete their charge in 10 minutes with one ultra-fast charger, with an output of 360 kW. The only other similarly fast stand in the Czech Republic is in Mladá Boleslav in Central Bohemia. 

The remaining four stations in Mikulov have a capacity of 50 kW, but two of them are due to be replaced with ultra-fast ones later this year.

"Electric cars have long since become part of our reality, but in order for them to grow in greater numbers, we need to keep working on developing places where people can charge them quickly and without waiting. This is the only way that electric mobility will catch up with conventional cars. That's why CEZ wants to continue building ultra-fast stands, and this year we want to build forty of them," said Tomáš Dzurilla, Director of ČEZ Electromobility Department.

As part of its Clean Energy Tomorrow vision, ČEZ has set itself the goal of reaching 800 operating stands and multiplying their capacity by 2025. The company wants to meet the demand for shorter charging times by building stations for ultra-fast charging and by expanding the number of charging hubs in busy locations near main roads and in cities.
