Fastned forays into Italy
The company has signed a contract with one of the major Italian motorway operators and expects to open the first station in its 8th country.
Fastned has signed a contract with A4 Holding Group, the Italian business unit of the Abertis Group, to expand into Italy. The charging company’s partner operates the A4 Brescia-Padova motorway in Northern Italy and has given permission to build the firm’s first fast charging station in the country.
The contract marks an important milestone for Fastned as it enters its 8th country and continues in its goal to build 1,000 charging stations across Europe.
Italy is an important new market for Fastned. In terms of kilometers of motorway, Italy ranks among the largest countries in Europe, with a car density per capita exceeding the European average.
To cater for the continuously growing demand, Fastned’s new station will open with 8 chargers each delivering up to 400 kW, with the possibility of doubling its size to a total of 16 chargers.
“Eleven years ago, we founded Fastned with the goal of building a European infrastructure of fast charging stations. Now, adding Italy to our list of countries is another great milestone for Fastned. The company is bringing its drive-through stations with solar canopies to the nation, and will build the country's first fast charging station of this kind in the northern region.
