Fastned’s charging network to triple in Germany
The company has been awarded two prime lots of 92 “search areas” as part of the local government’s “Deutschlandnetz” fast charging network tender.
Fastned has won two prime lots consisting of 92 so-called “search areas” in western and south-western Germany as part of the nationwide tender known as “Deutschlandnetz”. The company is the appointed party to build fast charging stations in cooperation with municipalities, commercial and private landowners at these locations.
The tender was led by the Federal Ministry of Digital Affairs and Transport and gave Fastned the opportunity to triple the number of stations across the country. This means a big step towards its goal of 1,000 charging stations in Europe by 2030.
“Each new station will support our mission of accelerating the transition to electric mobility. A comprehensive network of fast-charging stations will make more and more drivers switch to sustainable electric driving, moving the energy transition forward,” said Michiel Langezaal, CEO of Fastned.
Fastned currently has 37 fast charging stations in Germany and will further expand its network in the country and in Europe in the upcoming years. The new stations will feature the company’s standards, with the electric vehicle driver’s convenience and well-being put at the core of its design.
These locations will be equipped with high-performance fast chargers powered exclusively by renewable energy. In addition to the two lots won in western and south-western Germany, Fastned will continue to drive the expansion of fast charging infrastructure across the whole country.
