Fire at BP refinery kills two employees
A fire in the Husky Toledo Refinery in Ohio last Tuesday ended in tragedy, announced the company in a statement.
BP announced that two of its staff were killed after sustaining injuries in a fire at its 150,800 barrel-per-day Toledo, Ohio, refinery.
The two employees, who were not identified, were injured in the Tuesday evening fire.
“It is with deep sadness we report that two bp staff injured in a fire at the bp-Husky Toledo Refinery have passed away,” said the company in a statement.
“All other staff is accounted for and our employee assistance team is on site in Toledo to support our employees impacted by this tragedy."
In 2008, Husky Energy Inc formed a joint venture with BP by acquiring a 50% stake in the Toledo refinery.
The Husky Toledo Refinery, which has been shut down and is located just east of Toledo, can process up to 160,000 barrels of crude oil per day and “has been an important part of the region’s economy for more than 100 years,” according to BP’s website.
