Hyroad Energy expands hydrogen fleet with Nikola truck acquisition
The acquisition of 113 hydrogen fuel cell trucks is part of Nikola Corporation’s bankruptcy auction.
Hyroad Energy has taken a decisive step in scaling up hydrogen-powered transportation in the United States, with the acquisition of 113 hydrogen fuel cell trucks, spare parts, and associated software and intellectual property from Nikola Corporation’s bankruptcy auction.
The acquisition includes 103 brand-new Nikola Tre hydrogen fuel cell electric trucks, alongside operational infrastructure and software platforms designed to support deployment and maintenance. According to the company, this will enable Hyroad to provide customers with ready-to-go hydrogen trucking solutions, reducing the adoption hurdles often linked to zero-emission technologies.
“These trucks and the corresponding equipment and systems represent immediate capacity to put proven hydrogen fuel cell technology on the road to meet demand for zero-emission trucks,” said Dmitry Serov, CEO and Founder of Hyroad Energy.
Hyroad plans to deploy the trucks primarily in California, a state that has positioned itself as a leader in clean transportation initiatives. The company is actively expanding hydrogen refueling infrastructure in the region, aiming to ensure a reliable network for fleet operators transitioning away from diesel.
Nikola Corporation, once considered a high-profile challenger in the zero-emission trucking space, filed for bankruptcy earlier this year following financial struggles, production delays, and difficulties securing additional capital.
