Idemitsu and KG Motors to pilot new micro‑EV services in Japan

Collaboration brings the one‑seat electric vehicle “mibot” to select apollostation sites in Tokyo and Hiroshima.

Idemitsu Kosan and KG Motors have signed a new partnership agreement to introduce the compact electric minicar “mibot,” at select apollostation service stations in Tokyo and Hiroshima, starting in April 2026.

Under the agreement, apollostation sites will begin offering sales support, vehicle delivery, registration assistance, insurance handling, inspections, maintenance and parts replacement for the “mibot,” manufactured and sold by KG Motors. Following the initial pilot, both companies plan to expand the program nationwide based on results.

The “mibot” is a one‑seat electric minicar designed specifically for short‑distance mobility. With dimensions of 2,485 mm in length and a weight of roughly 470 kg, it supports everyday “one‑mile” trips such as grocery runs or travel to nearby train stations. The vehicle uses household 100V/200V charging or standard 200V public chargers, offers an estimated range of about 100 km, and achieves an electricity cost of approximately ¥1.82 ($0,012) per kilometer.

Both companies stated that the collaboration aims to advance mobility services that combine environmental responsibility with community benefit, contributing to a more sustainable society.
