Industry leaders join forces to scale hydrogen mobility in Europe
Planned activities include deploying hydrogen refueling stations along key strategic corridors across Europe.
Volvo Group, Daimler Truck, Toyota Motor Corporation, Bosch, Air Liquide, TotalEnergies, TEAL Mobility, MB Energy and other companies from the transport, energy and industrial sectors are joining forces with German policymakers to build a fully integrated hydrogen mobility ecosystem for heavy-duty transport, in what organizers describe as the first initiative of its kind in Europe.
The collaboration combines supportive policy frameworks, a strong lineup of OEM vehicles and an integrated hydrogen supply chain and infrastructure network, with the aim of scaling the deployment of hydrogen trucks by 2030.
Planned activities include deploying hydrogen refueling stations along key strategic corridors across Europe, timed to coincide with the rollout of hydrogen-powered truck fleets, alongside efforts to secure a competitive hydrogen price. The partners say the combination is intended to give customers a competitive total cost of ownership when operating hydrogen-powered vehicles.
The ecosystem is positioned as a complement to battery-electric solutions, with the companies stressing that scaling hydrogen requires coordinated development across the full value chain. From commercializing competitive vehicles to deploying infrastructure aligned with customer needs and ensuring reliable, affordably priced hydrogen supply.
Full details of the initiative will be unveiled at a CEO-led press event during IAA Transportation in Hanover on September 15.
