Kempower expands EV charging finance options for UK forecourts
First DLL-funded installation in the UK helps deploy eight fast-charging points at a Bedfordshire service station, reducing upfront investment costs for operators.
Kempower has completed its first UK electric vehicle (EV) charging project financed through a leasing agreement, supporting the installation of a new fast-charging hub at a service station operated by Highway Stops Retail Limited (HSRL) in Astwick, Bedfordshire.
The project was funded through a flexible financing arrangement provided by DLL, Kempower’s leasing partner, and is designed to lower the upfront costs associated with EV charging infrastructure. The initiative aims to help forecourt operators accelerate charger deployment without making large initial capital investments.
Commissioned in February 2026, the Astwick site is located on the northbound A1 near Hitchin and features four Kempower Double Satellite chargers providing a total of eight CCS2 charging connections. The chargers are linked to two Kempower Power Units, allowing charging speeds of up to 400 kW.
Under the financing model, operators receive not only the charging hardware but also ongoing maintenance services from Kempower, helping ensure long-term operational support alongside the financial package.
The Astwick installation is the first UK project delivered under the partnership between Kempower and DLL, which was established in 2024 to make DC fast-charging infrastructure more accessible across Europe.
“Financing the project through Kempower with DLL was a huge enabler,” said Shilan Raja, Director at HSRL, adding that the new chargers have received positive feedback from both EV drivers and industry stakeholders.
According to Kempower, the financing solution is intended to encourage greater participation from smaller and independent forecourt operators looking to expand into EV charging.
