Kent Kwik acquires 14 Tom Thumb stores
The Kent Companies announced the purchase which also includes three Subway franchise locations and will increase its portfolio up to 88 c-stores.
The Kent Companies, parent firm of the Kent Kwik convenience store brand, announced the acquisition of the Tom Thumb Food Stores network.
The retailer, based in Hialeah, Florida, has sold 14 company-operated Tom Thumb c-stores and three Subway franchise locations. A family-owned and operated business, the firm has a history of over 59 years operating locations from Fort Lauderdale to Key West.
Kent Companies will now operate a network of over 88 stores and 152 dealer sites across Texas, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina and now Florida.
“Tom Thumb Food Stores have a long history serving the Florida market, with a strong reputation of taking care of their employees and dedication to their customers. We are honored to continue their legacy of serving this market and giving back to the community,” said Bill Kent, Owner and Chairman of the Kent Companies, according to a press release published by NACS.
The acquired stores have recently undergone a brand reimagining but will continue to operate under the Tom Thumb Food Stores brand. Tom Thumb is also a brand under the EG America umbrella, last year the company announced that 113 Tom Thumbs would be rebranded to Cumberland Farms.
