MOL, E.ON open fifth EV charging station in Romania
Both energy companies plan to open 40 charging points at MOL stations as part of the NEXT-E project.
Last week E.ON Energie Romania opened the fifth fast-charging station from the 19 units it plans to install in Romania under the NEXT-E project, part of the EU-funded Connecting Europe Facility (CEF).
Located in the premesis of a MOL gas station in Păcurari, Iasi, the charger has a maximum power of 93kW. The average charging time of an EV will be 40 minutes for 80% of the battery.
By the end of next year, E.ON plans to install chargers along the route Iasi - Gheorghieni - Tg. Mureş, providing an "electric highway" for Romanian electric cars. Another "electric highway", linking Iasi to Bucharest, is also being developed.
"We are glad to see today, at the MOL Iasi Pacurari station, the opening of one of the 40 filling stations for electric vehicles that will be installed with the NEXT-E project. The MOL Group adopted the Strategy 2030 three years ago, a vision that sets the company's main directions for the next period,” said Camelia Ene, CEO & Country Chairman of MOL Romania.
All 40 NEXT-E stations, of which 19 will be installed by E.ON and 21 by MOL Romania, will be located on busy routes.
The stations will be integrated into a system for monitoring and managing charging sessions. This system provides 24-hour supervision of the unit and has the ability to remotely resolve incidents occurring during charges.
The NEXT-E project has received €18.84 million to install 222 fast multi-standard (50 kW) stations and 30 ultra-fast (150-350 kW) load stations along the main European corridors by 2020.
