Monfort Companies has completed the sale of its convenience retail and petroleum marketing portfolio, finalizing a multiyear divestment strategy that marks the company’s exit from the sector. The Denver‑based firm, which invests across commercial real estate, entertainment and multi‑site retail, previously operated nearly 80 convenience stores in Colorado, Minnesota, Oklahoma, Texas and Wisconsin.

Founded in 1930, Monfort built a long-standing presence in local business investment before entering convenience retail in 2013 with the acquisition of its first stores in Denver. At its peak, the portfolio included adjacent operations such as car washes, quick‑lube shops, QSRs and full‑service restaurants.

Reflecting on the sale, Alon Mor, CEO of Monfort Companies, said: “Monfort has always invested with purpose. Growing a portfolio of nearly 80 stores across five states in just over five years reflects our team's ability to identify opportunity and execute.”

Monfort began strategically divesting these assets between 2023 and 2026, selling its various regional markets to multiple buyers, including Azan Petro, 7‑Eleven, Kent Kwik Convenience Stores, and Diamond Jubilee Oil. The final transactions complete the company’s phased wind down of its convenience retail operations.
