Neste, United Airlines continue SAF partnership across three U.S. airports
Agreement marks United’s first use of SAF at Houston, Newark, and Washington Dulles hubs.
Neste and United Airlines have expanded their long-term partnership to bring sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) to three major U.S. airports.
The agreement makes United the first commercial airline to use SAF for flights departing from all three locations. Under the deal, Neste will supply neat Neste MY Sustainable Aviation Fuel, which will be blended with conventional jet fuel before use to meet industry standards.
Airports include George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) in Houston, Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) in New Jersey, and Dulles International Airport (IAD) in Washington, D.C.
“Introducing sustainable aviation fuel for the first time at our hubs in Houston, Newark, and Dulles is another significant milestone in United’s sustainability journey,” said Lauren Riley, Chief Sustainability Officer at United Airlines. “While United remains the leading SAF user in the U.S., we recognize that the growth of the SAF market requires support from both state and federal governments.”
Deliveries began in July 2025 at George Bush Airport and will continue through October 2025, while shipments to Newark and Dulles started in September and are scheduled to run until the end of the year. The SAF is supplied via existing pipeline infrastructure from Neste’s Houston terminal facilities, ensuring an efficient and scalable distribution model.

We remain fully committed to supporting our customers in reducing emissions by scaling our SAF production and supply capabilities.”
The new agreement builds on Neste and United’s ongoing collaboration, which began with SAF deliveries to Chicago O’Hare International Airport in 2024 and continued at San Francisco International Airport under California’s Low Carbon Fuel Standard.
