Netherlands: Tamoil to offer EV Charging in stations via Jolt association
Both companies have partnered up to deploy JOLT’s MerlinOe Ultra-Fast charging stations at up to 33 of the fuel retailer’s forecourts.
Tamoil Nederland and Jolt Energy Group have announced the signing of a new agreement to deploy JOLT’s MerlinOe Ultra-Fast charging stations at up to 33 of the chain’s service stations in the Netherlands. The project is scheduled to start in 2022 as part of JOLT’s ChargeMyCity campaign.
“The collaboration with JOLT marks the start of a rapid transition to servicing our growing e-mobility customer base. The MerlinOne Ultra-Fast Charger is a key enabler for scaling up our e-mobility offering in a flexible manner, overcoming the challenge of long and costly electricity grid upgrades. We’re excited to embark on this e-journey together with JOLT,” said Ronald Kempen, Managing Director of Tamoil Nederland B.V.
The MerlinOne charging station, developed by JOLT, is specifically designed for city charging situations. In a context where the existing electricity grid makes the provision of ultra-fast charging difficult, the system is built to charge each vehicle with just a quick stop.
“Once the project is operational, drivers will be able to top-up their weekly driving needs in 10 to 15 minutes; a significant improvement compared to existing home and street-based charging alternatives,” stated Maurice Neligan, CEO of JOLT.
Its ChargeMyCity campaign is focused on promoting the mobility transition in communities. With this objective in mind, the company is bringing together site owners, financing and charger operations in regional charging projects.
