Nikola establishes first US hydrogen station in a truck dealer location
The facility is located in Tom’s Truck Center in Los Angeles county and is capable of refueling 30 trucks on a daily basis.
Commercial truck sales and service company Tom’s Truck Center has opened the first hydrogen refueling station onsite at a commercial truck dealership in the United States.
The company is part of Nikola’s dealer network and has established a modular hydrogen refueling station for the heavy-duty transportation sector. Located at the company’s Santa Fe Springs location in Los Angeles County, the high-pressure dispensing equipment allows for refueling up to 30 trucks daily.
“This station allows us to support our customers who choose hydrogen units by offering the necessary infrastructure. By partnering with HYLA and making hydrogen refueling accessible, we’re significantly reducing carbon emissions, improving air quality, and setting new standards in clean transportation,” said KC Heidler, President and CEO of Tom’s Truck Center.
Tom’s also offers new and used sales, rental and leasing options, and service, for EV and hydrogen trucks of all sizes. This new HYLA modular refueling station is only the beginning, with the long-term plan involving the addition of a Tom’s Truck Center permanent hydrogen refueling station, projected to be completed by the end of 2026.
Other current HYLA hydrogen refueling locations in California include Long Beach and Ontario. Nikola expects that 14 hydrogen refueling locations will be operational by the end of 2024.
