Oryx Energies acquires majority stake in Puma Energy Senegal
The company will be rebranded as Oryx Gas Sénégal and will continue to operate its LPG business across the country.
Oryx Energies has acquired a majority stake in Puma Energy Senegal, a transaction that adds Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) to its business portfolio.
The company will be renamed Oryx Gaz Sénégal, integrating Puma Energy's five fuel retail sites and bunkering business into its operations.
The transaction strengthens Oryx’s presence in the country and reflects the company’s commitment to supporting the energy transition towards cleaner fuels in the country.
“This acquisition enhances our presence in Senegal, one of our key markets since 1989. It is part of our global LPG business development plans in sub-Saharan Africa. We are strengthening our position in this sector as an experienced and leading player in core markets such as Côte d’Ivoire, Benin, Burkina Faso, Tanzania and South Africa within the framework of ‘Oryzon 25’, our new three-year strategic plan,” said Moussa Diao, CEO at Oryx Energies.
Present in Senegal since 1989, Oryx Energies operates an integrated supply, storage and distribution model. With a storage terminal strategically located in the port of Dakar, another under construction at the new port of Sendou-Bargny, and bunkering facilities, Oryx Energies maintains a reliable supply of quality oil products and services in Senegal for both industrial and domestic applications.
