OXXO opens first Grab & Go store in Mexico
Customers must download an app and scan a QR code upon entering the store to experience a frictionless shopping experience.
OXXO has opened its first Grab & Go store in Monterrey, Nuevo León. The location is equipped with a fully digital system and is the first of its kind in Latin America.
Customers who want to be part of this shopping experience need to enter the store through a QR code, take their products and go, as the payment is made automatically when they leave the store. A receipt is sent automatically to their cell phones through the app.
"With this first store located at the TEC de Monterrey, Monterrey campus, OXXO reaffirms its commitment to technological innovation and customer satisfaction by improving the shopping experience. Through Grab & Go we seek to offer a unique shopping experience, driven by technology that is replicable and relocatable to universities, plazas and parks," said Ricardo Leyva, Director of Transformation and Strategic Planning at OXXO.
The store operates through an artificial intelligence system, equipped with cameras that identify each customer as well as the products they take. Being a 100% digital system, this store is 100% frictionless, so those who enter will only have to take their products and leave.
When they finish, the camera and technology system will automatically charge the products and send the corresponding ticket. The registration data will be stored in the app, so for future visits when entering the store they will only have to scan the QR code.
