RaceTrac completes purchase of Gulf

The acquisition is the largest in the company’s history and expands its scale and operating network across the US.

RaceTrac has announced that its wholly-owned wholesale fuel supply and trading subsidiary, Metroplex Energy, has closed the acquisition of Gulf Oil.

As previously announced in July, the transaction has received appropriate regulatory approvals and all closing conditions have been satisfied. This means that RaceTrac now owns the Gulf brand in the United States and Puerto Rico, comprising approximately 1,100 branded sites.

The deal also includes exclusive rights to market fuel at eleven Massachusetts Turnpike service plaza locations.

“Customers, distributors and licensees have looked to the Gulf brand for quality and dependability for over 100 years and we are excited to announce its addition to the RaceTrac family,” said Max McBrayer, CEO of RaceTrac.

Current RaceTrac locations won’t be impacted by the deal and will continue to offer the same products and experience to guests. The acquisition provides unique opportunities to serve guests at 1,100 additional locations under the Gulf Oil brand.

RaceTrac has nearly 800 retail locations in 12 states offering guests an affordable one-stop-shop featuring a wide selection of food and beverage favorites, including freshly brewed coffee, and competitively priced fuel.
