Raízen unveils first Shell Recharge location in Argentina
The licensee inaugurated its first EV charger located in a service station as part of the mobility company’s strategy for alternative fuels.
Raízen, the Shell licensee in Argentina, has inaugurated its first Shell Recharge location in the country. As part of the mobility company’s alternative fuels strategy, the operator of the brand opened its first EV charger integrated in a service station.
The launch was held at a firm's forecourt located in Nordelta and known as Servicentro Los Remeros SRL, named as one of the best Shell stations across the world. The equipment has a capacity of 50 kW for recharging and is capable of charging two vehicles at the same time. It’s the first one of many to be deployed in several retail outlets across the country yet to be chosen.
"With the installation of this first Shell Recharge pump, we are taking an important step in expanding our offer and bringing to Argentina this new technology, already proven worldwide to offer our customers new experiences," said Teófilo Lacroze, CEO of Raízen Argentina, according to a report by local news site surtidores.com.ar.
The Recharge brand is already present in more than 30 countries and now has added one more to the list. Created to support and enhance e-mobility throughout the world, Shell is expanding the reach of this initiative to fulfil its objective to become a net zero company by 2050.
According to data provided by the Argentinian Automotive Dealers' Association, the purchase of EVs is a trend that is gaining momentum in the country. Throughout 2021, a total of 5,871 EVs and hybrid vehicles were sold in the country in 2021, which represents a 148% increase over 2020, with 3,488 more units sold according to the same institution.
