Repsol expands renewable diesel network to 1,500 forecourts
Energy giant sold more than 210 million litres of renewable diesel this year in Portugal and Spain.
Repsol says it has hit a milestone in its bid to cut emissions, expanding supplies of its 100% renewable Diésel Nexa to 1,500 service stations in Spain and Portugal.
The company said 1,429 sites in Spain and 71 in Portugal now supply the fuel, which it markets as a drop-in alternative for existing diesel engines. Repsol described the expansion as meeting a target set in the 2024–27 update to its strategic plan and said it now runs Europe’s largest network offering a renewable diesel.
Repsol said it had sold more than 210 million litres of renewable diesel this year and that over 40% of its service-station network offers renewable fuels. It argues the product can cut emissions quickly because internal combustion vehicles still dominate fleets and new-car sales.
Diésel Nexa, identifiable by a pink colour at the pump, is positioned as a premium product with an “exclusive formulation” aimed at improving performance and extending engine life. Repsol said it is produced from renewable-origin feedstocks and, with current technology, can reduce lifecycle carbon footprint by up to 90% compared with fossil diesel.
Valero Marín, Repsol’s customer director, said the rollout underlined that “renewable liquid fuels are a real option” for lowering CO₂ emissions.
