Repsol sells its Italian business to Tamoil

The deal consists of 275 petrol stations and the fuel distribution business in Italy.

Spanish oil giant Repsol has agreed the sale of its fuelling business in Italy to Tamoil, which includes 275 petrol stations.

The deal between Repsol and Tamoil, a leading operator in the transalpine region, includes the service station network as well as the fuel distribution business. It will be completed in the coming weeks.

Repsol entered the Italian market in 2004 with the acquisition of 45 sites. After 2011 the network began to grow rapidly and it is now integrated by 275 service stations, mainly located in the Northern part of the country.

The sale is part of Repsol’s Strategic Plan 2021-2025 that sets a focus on those geographical areas that present the biggest competitive advantages.

The Italian petrol station market is known for its overpopulation – with some 21,000 sites it has the biggest fueling network in Europe.
