Repsol takes over 100% of Klikin to boost digital payments
The energy giant acquires the third of the company that remained in the hands of the founding partners.
Repsol has bought the totality of Klikin, the startup founded by entrepreneur Gustavo García Brusilovsky and that gave birth to Waylet, a payment and loyalty application that has more than two million users.
Repsol and Klikin have been working together for more than three years, since the multi-energy company acquired 70% of the startup at the end of 2017, looking for innovative ways to boost its digital business.
With the purchase of the remaining 30%, Repsol aims to position Waylet as the leading payment app for mobility in Spain.
Following the acquisition, Repsol will seek a strategic partner to manage the other line that Klikin was promoting, a digital platform for orders, reservations, payment and loyalty for businesses, especially in the restaurant industry.
The company's commitment to digitalisation allows customers to pay without getting out of the car thanks to Waylet, an app for mobile payments created by Repsol in mid-2017, which already has more than 8,000 participating businesses and registers more than 1.1 million transactions per month.
