Shell expands service station network in Ecuador with six new sites
After its return to the country last year, the oil company has been expanding its fuel retail network to reach its goal of opening 100 stations in five years.
Last October, Shell announced its return to Ecuador through the EnergyLíder firm which is currently in charge of operating the brand’s service stations throughout the country. As part of its expansion strategy, the company has opened six new forecourts to complete its plans to inaugurate a total of 100 locations over the next five years.
The brand had a total of only two stations operating in the country, but with the new openings in the cities of Guayaquil and Quito will add up to a total of eight facilities. By the end of the year, the company expects to open 30 locations as part of its positioning strategy.
Sale projections of the new openings involve approximately more than 1.200.000 monthly gallons of fuel thanks to an estimated amount of 300.000 customers per month, as reported by local news site El Universo. The brand returned after 15 years of absence and set an ambitious growth plan that involved new sites in other cities such as Manta and Machala.
"We are focused on providing Ecuadorians with a unique experience based on high standards of service, not only in fuel but also in everything that Shell will bring to its service stations at very competitive prices," said Diego Endara, President of EnergyLíder, as reported by the local media.
EnergyLíder currently operates approximately 30 stations of different brands in a market that has a total of 17 traders. Depending on its location, the average volume of a site’s sale is 150,000 gallons. Regarding the Shell brand specifically, the company has stated that its expansion plans involve not only building new sites but to also rebrand other facilities that currently operate under other brands.
