Shell provides home charging solutions to EV drivers in the Netherlands
Drivers who buy a new electric model from Nissan’s dealer can opt to include a home charging solution provided by the company’s Recharge subsidiary.
Shell Recharge Solutions and Nissan announced they are teaming up to provide more convenience to drivers with a complete electric mobility solution in the Netherlands. Nissan dealers across the country will offer home charging solutions from Shell.
When consumers choose a Nissan EV at one of the 55 official dealers in the nation, they can arrange everything in one go: from the electric vehicle to the home charge point, including installation. By purchasing a Shell Recharge charge point to charge at home, EV drivers have various functionalities at their disposal, such as an AutoCharge function and smart charging.
With AutoCharge, a charging session begins as soon as an EV driver plugs in. Through smart charging functions, a charging session can be scheduled, for example, when the vehicle is not in use or during "off-peak hours" when demand on the grid is low and energy is cheaper. In addition, thanks to the Dynamic Power Management module, EV drivers can ensure that the available power capacity is optimally distributed and the electricity grid is not overloaded.
"Together we can unburden prospective EV drivers by also arranging their home charging solution when they buy a new EV. With this, we want to not only ease but also accelerate the transition to EVs," said Herman Keijsers, Director International Sales and Integration at Shell Recharge Solutions Europe.
The cooperation builds on the ambitions of both companies: Shell Recharge Solutions aims to operate at least 2.5 million charging points by 2030, while Nissan expects to have 19 electric vehicle models on the market by 2030.
