Sinopec launches first gas station in Australia
The Chinese energy giant expands its global footprint with a new site in Melbourne.
Sinopec, one of the world’s largest integrated energy and chemical companies, has officially opened its first retail fuel station in Australia, marking a key milestone in the company’s international expansion strategy.
The new station is located in Frankston, southeast of Melbourne along the Nepean Highway, and was inaugurated on Tuesday in a ceremony attended by company executives and local officials.
“Sinopec’s mission is simple, to bring green and premium energy to Australia and to the wider communities we serve,” said Yang Boyu, General Manager of Sinopec Australia, during the opening event. “Through our global vision of Cleaner Energy, Better Life, we are investing in projects that deliver both environmental and economic benefits, while deepening our long-term partnership with the Australian people.”
Frankston City Mayor Kristopher Bolam praised the investment, describing the new station as a symbol of confidence in the region. “Frankston is proud to welcome Sinopec, a global company investing in our city, creating local jobs, and strengthening essential infrastructure,” he said.
The opening underscores Sinopec’s commitment to expanding its retail and clean energy presence beyond China, as the company continues to pursue growth opportunities in key international markets.
