Sionic Mobile to offer no-app mobile pay at the pump
Consumers will receive a message on their mobile device upon arriving at participating gas stations, tap the message, and select a pump to turn on.
Sionic Mobile announced it is making mobile payments at gas pumps possible without requiring a mobile app. Sionic Mobile, a leading provider of cloud-based connected commerce services, is integrating its secure, zero-friction ULink service with Gilbarco Veeder-Root’s Passport Point-of-Sale solution at fuel dispensers.
The integration of ULink into Passport enables fast and convenient payment at all Point-of-Sale manufactured by Gilbarco Veeder-Root, a highly-regarded supplier of fuel dispensers, PoS systems, payment systems, forecourt merchandising, and support services to fuel retailers. ULink, a universal linking service connecting mobile consumers and brick-and-mortar merchants, uses digital wallets and cutting-edge payment card security and payment processing through CyberSource, a Visa company, to submit card payment authorizations to fuel retailers.
“Consumers crave fast, simple, secure forms of payment. Integrating Sionic Mobile’s ULink service into Passport eliminates steps in the payment process to create a seamless fueling experience. With Sionic Mobile, we’re excited to break down technological barriers to simplify and enhance the retail fueling process for all,” said Matthew Packer, Marketing Manager for Passport Partnerships at Gilbarco Veeder-Root.
“We are thrilled to be working with Gilbarco Veeder-Root to bring zero-friction mobile pay at the pump to gas stations large and small,” said Ronald Herman, CEO and founder of Sionic Mobile.
According to the company, this partnership would empower fuel retailers to enhance the customer experience at the pump and improve their store’s bottom line by helping drive more fuel sales and reduce fraud. It may also positively impact fuel retailers’ marketing and operations by increasing enrollment and participation in loyalty programs while eliminating the expense of offering a mobile app.
