Slovenia: PKN Orlen considering acquisition of OMV’s network
OMV’s fuelling business in Slovenia includes a network of 120 petrol stations operating under four brands.
PKN Orlen, the Polish energy giant, is considering the potential acquisition of OMV’s petrol stations in Slovenia, according to SEEbiz.
Last week OMV announced plans to sell its 120 petrol stations in Slovenia currently operating under OMV, Eurotruck, Avanti and Diskont brands. Reports now point at PKN Orlen as a possible buyer.
"We are analysing all the offers that appear in the region. This is how we will analyse this one as well,” PKN board member Orlena Patrycje Klarecke, according to Polish news agency PAP.
OMV’s network in Slovenia represents the second largest in the Central European country. The Austrian energy company’s decision to divest is part of a €2 billion asset disposal programme aimed to reduce its gearing ratio.
While OMV has decided to exit various European markets including Germany and Slovenia, Polish player PKN Orlen has set out an ambitious expansion plan to reach at least 3,500 branded stations Central Europe over the next decade. It already operates in Poland, the Czech Republic, Germany, Lithuania and Slovakia.
