Spain: Carrefour Spain grows with fuel stations
The company closes 2019 with flat sales in its stores and an increase of 0.4% if its gas stations are included, after a negative start to the year.
Carrefour Spain has managed to recover from a bad year due to sales in its network of petrol stations. The French company announced that it closed last year with gross sales (including VAT) of 9,723 million euros in the domestic market. While the business in stores presented a flat evolution, the activity of its gas stations increased by 0.4%.
The increase, although small, has allowed the group to recover during the second half of the year after a negative start. In the first half of 2019, its sales fell by 1.2% in its stores and by 0.7% including all its businesses, however, the company managed to increase its sales by 1.6% in the third quarter (1.2% without the gas stations) and by 1.2% in the fourth quarter (0.9% without the oil business).
