Stewart’s Shops expands store reach with new opening in New York
The retailer celebrated the inauguration of its newest location in Claverack after acquiring it from Red-Kap and rebuilding it into a larger site.
Stewart’s Shop announced the opening of a new store in Claverack, New York, as part of its growth strategy announced at the beginning of the year. The new shop was acquired from Red-Kap and went through a rebuilding process to expand its size and reinvent its interior.
Formerly, the facility was opened as a Stewart’s Express location, but no more. This new shop offers a better flow both in the parking lot and in the shop, which allows for a quick in and out stop for customers. In addition, it offers a wide variety of branded products along with a greater selection of produce, grocery items and easy food items.
An inauguration event was hosted by the firm on the 12th of August with a ribbon cutting ceremony and special discounts on food, frink and fuel. The new site also includes extensive parking and fuel service with premium non ethanol gas and an ice cream counter that serves milkshakes, sundaes and sherbet coolers.
To support the community and celebrate the grand opening, Stewart’s Shop will be making a $7,500 donation to the Town of Claverack for modification of the Claverack Town Park to accommodate their youth program.
The retailer invested approximately $50 million in a total of 18 projects during 2021, which included five new shops and 13 rebuilt locations. This year, Stewart’s Shop aims to invest a similar amount in the opening of 20 new convenience stores, with 13 of them being rebuilt projects while the remaining seven will be new-to-market shops throughout its marketing territory.
