Sweden: Gasum opens new HDVs gas station in Gothenburg
The station in Tuve, near the Port of Gothenburg, is a part of Gasum’s Nordic gas filling station network and has been built in partnership with Volvo.
The Nordic gas infrastructure expands in Sweden as Gasum, in partnership with Volvo, opens a new gas filling station in Tuve, Gothenburg. Located at a major heavy transport hub near the Volvo truck plant and close to the Port of Gothenburg, the new site serves heavy-duty vehicles by providing LNG and LBG.
“The Nordic gas ecosystem is developing rapidly. We are investing in the gas filling station network as well as in the entire gas value chain and biogas production. These all are needed in order to secure a reliable supply and availability of gas to meet market demand,” says Johanna Lamminen, CEO, Gasum.
“Today, liquefied gas trucks are the most commercially viable alternative to ordinary diesel for heavy long-haul operations in Europe. With the growing gas network in the Nordic region, it's now possible for many of our customers to switch to more sustainable logistics solutions with our liquefied gas trucks,” explains Martin Lundstedt, President and CEO AB Volvo.
There are already more than 170 LNG trucks in use in Sweden and the number is rapidly increasing along with the gas filling station network and different incentives for low emission solutions.
