TravelCenters of America appoints Jason Nordin as new CEO
Former Pilot Company COO to lead TA under bp ownership amidst retail portfolio streamlining and record earnings.
TravelCenters of America (TA), part of bp’s mobility and convenience portfolio, has named Jason Nordin as its new chief executive officer. The appointment comes as the British energy giant moves ahead with plans to sell about 10% of its company-owned locations.
Nordin brings more than 20 years of leadership experience in retail, operations and strategic transformation, with a significant portion of his career in the travel center sector. He spent 12 years at Pilot Company, one of North America’s largest travel center operators, including six years as chief operating officer.
“TA has a strong legacy of serving professional drivers and travelers across the country, and I’m excited to work with the team to build on that foundation,” Nordin said.
As COO at Pilot, Nordin oversaw more than 23,000 team members across 650+ travel centers and quick-service restaurants in the United States and Canada. His responsibilities covered merchandising, foodservice, maintenance and field operations, where he focused on driving alignment and consistent execution. He also led Pilot’s dealer and license network of over 120 locations, giving him broad visibility into the travel center ecosystem.
“Jason’s prior leadership in the travel center industry and in other major retail organizations has prepared him to take on this critical role,” said Greg Franks, bp’s senior vice president of mobility and convenience.
Nordin steps into the role at a time when bp is balancing portfolio simplification with growth, following record third-quarter results in its customers and refining segments and an increased focus on cost discipline, cash flow and long-term profitability. Within that context, TA alongside the company’s other U.S. retail brands are expected to play a central role in how the company refines its footprint while continuing to serve fleet and highway customers across the country.
