Wawa has officially set its sights on major growth across Virginia, announcing plans to open 60 new stores throughout the state in the coming years.

The announcement was made during a Community Partnership event held on April 1 at the Salem Civic Center, where the company’s leadership shared details on the company's long-term investment in the region. This expansion builds on the brand’s 25-year presence in Virginia and signals a new chapter as the brand moves westward to serve even more communities.

“This 60-store plan represents our commitment to growing in new markets and bringing our one-of-a-kind offer to more Virginians—while continuing our tradition of strong community partnerships,” said Kim Dowgielewicz, Director of Store Operations at Wawa.

The groundbreaking events introduced the company to the western Virginia communities and featured local officials, charity partners, and VIP customers. Attendees enjoyed fresh samples including the chain’s signature coffee, teas, lemonades, and pretzels.

Wawa currently operates more than 1,100 locations across nine states and Washington, D.C. The planned 60-store expansion across Virginia is part of its broader strategy to reach underserved regions and deliver on-the-go convenience rooted in hospitality.
