Wawa closes standalone drive-thru location

Wawa has officially ended its first standalone drive-thru experiment, closing the location at the busy intersection of West Trenton Avenue and Pine Grove Road in Falls Township,Pennsylvania.
This site, which was adjacent to an existing Wawa store and a former Rite Aidshut, recently shut its doors as reported by Levittownnow.com. Opened in January 2021, the standalone drive-thru was introduced as a new concept during the Covid-19 pandemic, designed to cater to changing consumer habits.
The modern facility featured a streamlined menu focused on quick food and drink options, catering to customers on the go.
Despite the closure of the Falls Township location, Wawa continues to operate two other standalone drive-thru sites in Allentown, Pennsylvania, and Largo, Florida.
Despite the recent closure, the company remains committed to expansion, as it has recently entered Central Pennsylvania as part of a larger growth strategy. According to the Philadelphia Business Journal, Wawa plans to open 160 new stores in Georgia, Kentucky, Ohio, and Indiana over the next five to eight years.
