Wawa expands EV charging network with branded rollout in Pennsylvania
Retailer will introduce eight fast-charging sites across Pennsylvania through a partnership with Electrify America.
Wawa is expanding its electric vehicle (EV) charging footprint in Pennsylvania through a partnership with Electrify America, launching eight Wawa-branded charging locations across the state this year.
The new chargers will be installed at stores in Bristol, Allentown, Quakertown, Upper Darby, Phoenixville, Media, Williamsport and Reading. The initiative marks the retailer's latest effort to grow its EV charging offer, which now spans more than 280 locations across its network.
According to Wawa, the project is part of a broader strategy to support both electric and conventional vehicle drivers while increasing control over the customer experience at charging sites.
“Since 2017, Wawa has been a leader in providing EV charging solutions, with over 280 locations now offering this service,” said Rich Makin, Senior Vice President and Chief Fuel and Development Officer at Wawa. “This move to testing Wawa branded chargers demonstrates our ongoing commitment to meeting our customers’ fueling needs—whether they require electric charging or traditional liquid fuels.”
The retailer said operating branded chargers is intended to create a more consistent experience for drivers across its network, which spans 14 states and Washington, D.C. Wawa operates approximately 1,200 convenience stores across the eastern United States and has steadily expanded EV charging as demand for electric mobility continues to grow.
